PrognosticationFelix Balamou is going to fit somewhere in the rotation this season. More than likely, though, it will be in come capacity coming off of the bench.

While he did come to the program last season with some hype, Balamou obviously didn’t play to other-worldly levels — but that doesn’t mean there won’t be a gigantic improvement in his game for this year.

Strengths: Dynamic athleticism. Not the kind that will have him on any Top 10 highlight reels, but the kind that makes him an admirable defender and dangerous attacking the rim.

He is also a solid shooter as well. Nothing spectacular, although, it is respectable enough that defenders have to honor it. Which, in turn, makes it easier for him to get to the bucket.

Weaknesses: His minutes were up and down last season. Steve Lavin clearly didn’t feel highly confident in Balamou so there must be something wrong in his game.

Inconsistency, can vanish in games and his handle can use some work.

Personal Note: To me at least, Balamou is a mystery. It seems like a lot of the natural talent is there, but he was never able to regularly crack the rotation last season. This has nothing to do with any of the hype from last season either. The expectations surrounding the sophomore were never that great to begin with.

Here is to hoping he utilizes his athleticism this season. Although, you do know what they say about hoping in one hand and something else about the other, right?

Random, but neat Felix Balamou Factoid: His hometown is Conakry, Guinea.
