Dear Journal,

Hey, Journal. Man, this might be my first entry in your pretty pink casing, but I feel like we have been besties for years. Listen, I come to you for one specific reason. I need somewhere to go to vent the trials and tribulations that come with being a college hoops fan during football season.

I mean, it’s bad enough that my favorite sport is the least popular of the major sports, but it is getting increasingly tougher to make it through each and every day without someone telling me about football. I don’t mean like “Hey, football is fun” guy, more like “football is the greatest thing since sliced-bread” guy. Trust me, I get it. Football is all kinds of neat. In fact, I really like football.

However, that sport is not the end all be all for me. Really, it is something I watch to get by until the start of the college hoops season — which, thankfully, is technically underway. Although, we would never know that with the way it is nowhere near as covered as the behemoths that are the NFL and college football.

Maybe I am jealous that football fans get their sport covered to the point of nausea. To tell you the truth, though, I think it is the air of arrogance that football carries that bothers me the most. Football people love football and they love to tell us about it even more. Journal, seriously, I once followed this guy on Twitter who would do nothing but give me football stats all day long. Eventually I unfollowed him because who wants random stats four months before the season? Oh, that’s right, football people.

Journal, listen up my dear friend. I will come back to visit you each day to tell you about the horrible things that are awaiting me as a college hoops fan during football season. I just hope I don’t come off as too whiny.

Sincerely,

College Hoops Fan
