St. John’s Forward Keith Thomas in Middle of Community College Scandal

The St. John’s Red Storm are reportedly reviewing the transcripts of junior forward Keith Thomas. That is because the junior is a name of interest in the Westchester Community College academic poop-show.

Westchester Community College (WCC for the sake of my sanity going forward) have apparently been giving away phony transcripts to basketball players. Richard Fields, a former assistant, was fired from the school after he admitted as much. So, yeah, that’s not a good thing.

It has also resulted in two other, former WCC players being yanked of their scholarships recently.

Keith Thomas was a member of that very dominant program during the time that the phony papers were made and the NYDN is reporting that the junior will be miss the season. The university, on the other hand, is taking a more calm and stoic approach at the moment, but does say they will (re?)look over the transcripts.

If the Red Storm are without Keith Thomas for the season it will certainly be a significant blow. However, the Johnnies do have talent in the frontcourt and some depth. Although Thomas was expected to play a pretty large role in Steve Lavin’s rotation.
