The St. John’s Red Storm are in the middle of rebuilding the program under Steve Lavin. Considering some of the top-notch recruits Lavin has brought in, you might already consider it a success. Still, because no transformation of a program is complete until it is hip again, the long awaited Johnnies and Under Armour deal is official. As in, pictures of the Red Storm’s new uniforms surfaced all over the internet yesterday.
Most seemed to like the understated uniforms. Nothing too flashy or over the top. Here are a few pictures so you can judge for yourself:
Obviously these pictures are not of literal jerseys, but of pictures of pictures or something. Like, you know, if the new Under Armour uniforms had a Twitter avi profile pic — it would be those things.
The biggest takeaway from the pictures is the map within the numbers of the uniforms. There is also the skyline and staying true to St. John’s colors. Nothing that seems like too drastic a change or altering the program’s history all together (something that the designing companies tend to not care about).
These new uniforms should be available for purchase in about a month. They will also be available for the Red Storm to wear this season. Meaning, well, nothing really.
According to people who have commented about them on Twitter, however, it does seem like the new, Under Armour uniforms are getting mostly positive reviews.
