St. John’s Guard Phil Greene IV “We have the best backcourt in the country”

Whatever you may think about Phil Greene IV just don’t check the attribute “modesty” next to your fictional Human Characteristics Checkbook. During St. John’s Dribble for the Cure cancer fundraiser, which was held this past Saturday, Greene was asked about the Red Storm’s backcourt strengths in the Big East Conference and if they happened to have the best guards in the league. And, well, Greene had a better answer than most would have expected.

(H/T the GOAT that is NY Post writer Zach Braziller)

"“The country,” the unapologetically confident Greene said. “You see it every day in practice. We compete at a high level…Versatile. Each of us brings different skills to the game and to our team. That’s what makes us such a deep backcourt.”"

Just like the T-Virus, though, swagger seems to be contagious on the roster. After hearing such boisterous claims some folks had to check with other members of the backcourt. Unlike any human-turned-zombie in the Resident Evil franchise, the Johnnies might have been infected with the virus (is it a virus?) that is swagger, yet it wasn’t spread through being bitten but with experience and faith in each other.

“You can’t guard none of us one-on-one,” Harrison said. “Our last year, we’re going out with a bang.

D’Angelo Harrison, the volume-shooting Red Storm superstar, was the first to back up Greene’s claim. He went on to explain that not only do the Johnnies have the experience, but that there’s very few people in the country who can guard them. In fact, “You can’t guard none of us one-on-one,” said Harrison.

That is a lot of talk for a group of guys who haven’t properly danced in the month of March yet, but everyone knows that the time to swag is between the end of Summer and start of Fall.
