Butler coach Brandon Miller Forced to Take Medical Leave

Generally, when we do these “Around The Big East” posts it is either meant to take lighthearted shots at other programs in the league or give some usually unimportant news. Unfortunately this is not the case for this particular ATBE. According to several media outlets, Butler Bulldogs head basketball coach Brandon Miller is taking a medical leave of absence and will be gone from the program for some period of time.

From the university:

"“Brandon Miller has requested a leave of absence for medical reasons, which the university has granted,” said Butler athletic director Barry Collier. “We are not in a position to further elaborate and we ask that everyone respect Brandon’s privacy.”"

Assistant Chris Holtman will serve as the interim coach until Brandon Miller is able to rejoin the team.

No other details were released so there’s no need to speculate at the moment. I am sure more details will come out as time passes, but it would be rather disgusting to take glee or any form of happiness in some other person’s health because it may help your favorite program win — obviously.

For what it is worth, ESPN’s Jeff Goodman has done some speculating. Albeit he is doing so based on some facts and incidents from the past.

Goodman went on to say that he wouldn’t be shocked if Brandon Miller was gone for good and:

Regardless, we wish him a quick, speedy and easy recovery from whatever ailments he is currently suffering.
