St. John’s visits 2015 Target DeShawn Freeman
By Joe Nardone
There ain’t no party like a JUCO recruiting trail party because a JUCO recruiting trail party don’t stop. Or, you know, something like that. Regardless, the St. John’s Red Storm are not only in hot pursuit of tippy-top-talents (another patent still pending) like Isaiah Briscoe and Brandon Sampson, but they are also after the likes of JUCO prospects like DeShawn Freeman.
According to numerous outlets, St. John’s assistant coach Rico Hines went to JUCO Hutchinson (Kansas) Community College to take a look at the 2015 forward.

DeShawn Freeman was a former 2013 prospect before going the junior college route. A 6’6″, 210 pound small forward, Freeman is rated between a three-to-four star prospect by most respectable recruiting service websites.
Other programs reportedly in the mix for the Rocky Mount, North Carolina prospect are Arizona State, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Tennessee, Nebraska and some other less notable programs.
Depending on how things fall with other, more prolific recruiting targets Freeman can either add some depth to the frontcourt or could end being someone that may need to play rather right away. Either way he would end up being a solid get for the Johnnies, as his talents have seemed to improve since being a 2013 target — where smaller programs seemed to be the only teams interested in his services.
As per the usual, we will keep you posted as more details come out regarding his recruitment process.
