St. John’s basketball extends offer to highly touted Class of ’21 forward

The St. John’s basketball coaching staff extend an offer to a three-star prospect out of the Class of 2021 and a Tennessee resident on Monday.

Mike Anderson and his coaching staff continues to stay busy on the recruiting trail as St. John’s has offered a scholarship to Alden Applewhite on Monday, May 4.

Applewhite is a three-star recruit out of Memphis, Tennessee and the 247 Sports Composite Rankings place him as the No. 129 prospect in the Class of 2021 and the No. 6 player in the state of Tennessee.

Listed as a 6-foot-6, 230 pound small forward, St. John’s is just the latest school to enter the race for Applewhite as he also picked up an offer from Texas A&M in the last few weeks.

The Houston High School standout also hold an offer from Big East rival Xavier as well as Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and TCU. Alabama has not officially offered the forward although Nate Oats’ staff has shown interest.

St. John’s has been very active in recruiting the Class of 2021 as Anderson and his staff currently have 28 open offers to the class.

Paul Jones, a Mississippi State insider for 247 Sports, is the lone analyst to lock in a Crystal Ball Prediction for Alden Applewhite and Jones has the small forward landing in Starkville to join the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

According to Verbal Commits, St. John’s has offers extended to the following small forwards in the Class of 2021: Maxwell Lewis, Nate Tabor, Malik Missouri, Drissa Traore, Elijah Tucker, and Ike Cornish.

Mike Anderson has made it a point to be very active on the recruiting trail since taking over the St. John’s head coaching job back over a year ago and he has been doing that exact thing with the Red Storm bringing in a sold core of players out of the Class of 2020.
