Another change made to St. John’s basketball Big East schedule

Another change has been made to the St. John’s basketball schedule ahead of Big East games.

More schedule adjustments have been made for the St. John’s basketball program ahead of Big East play.

The Johnnies have now had its first two Big East games postponed because of COVID-19 issues with its opposing team.

St. John’s saw its first scheduled game against UConn postponed because of another pause within in the Huskies program and its second scheduled game against Butler has also been postponed, the team announced on Wednesday morning.

The Bulldogs went on pause following its season opening victory on November 25 and have yet to return for a full team practice despite individual workouts.

Likewise, the Big East has countered by adjusting the St. John’s schedule as the Red Storm will travel to Seton Hall (3-3) on Friday to open league play against the Pirates and then travel to Washington D.C. to face the Georgetown Hoyas on Sunday evening.

The Red Storm were slated to play in Butler on Monday night.

St. John’s (5-1) and Georgetown (2-2) will tipoff at 7:30pm EST (Fox Sports 1) at McDonough Gymnasium.

Patrick Ewing’s team was scheduled to play UConn on Sunday in the nation’s capital before the Huskies announced its pause.

St. John’s basketball feeling wrath of scheduling issues.

Since facing Boston College on November 30, St. John’s has encountered a scheduling issue due to COVID-19 in each game.

The Johnnies were scheduled to travel to Texas Tech before canceling its trip over concerns about the virus and playing BYU in ‘Bubbleville’.

St. John’s then saw its games against Sacred Heart and Fordham canceled because of COVID issues within both programs before scheduling Stony Brook and Rider to take the place of its previous opponents.

That has led into Big East play with its first two games being adjusted because of the pandemic.

Following its matchup against Georgetown on Sunday, December 13, St. John’s is not scheduled to play again until Thursday, December 17 against No. 8 Creighton in Queens.

The Red Storm and Hoyas will complete its regular season series before Christmas as Georgetown is slated to play in Carnesecca Arena on December 20.
