St. John’s basketball guard Posh Alexander was named as the Big East Freshman of the Week.
The first big honor in the career of St. John’s basketball freshman guard Posh Alexander was presented on Monday morning as the point guard was named as the Big East Freshman of the Week.
In two games against No. 9 Creighton and Georgetown, the Brooklyn, New York native averaged 11.5 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game, shooting 50.0-percent from the field as the Johnnies (6-4, 1-3 Big East) split its two home games.
Alexander went for 13 points, one rebound, three assists, and a steal on 6-of-11 shooting against the Blue Jays and followed that performance with ten points, two rebounds, three assists, and three steals against the Hoyas.
St. John’s picked up its first Big East victory of the season over Georgetown on Sunday evening.
In his first season in Queens, the Our Savior Lutheran (N.Y.) star is averaging 10.1 points per game and leading the Red Storm in both assists per game (4.2) and steals per game (2.4).

Alexander and teammate Greg Williams Jr. are tied for the Big East lead in steals per game.
Posh Alexander is the first member of St. John’s to win either Big East Player of the Week or Big East Freshman of the Week but teammates Vince Cole and Julian Champagnie have been named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll this season.
St. John’s basketball continues to see improvement from freshman guard
After a stellar three games to start his freshman campaign, Posh Alexander saw a drop-off in production, unable to reach double-figures in four straight games.

However, since the start of league play the 5-foot-11 point guard has reached double-digits in three straight games and three of four Big East games.
Alexander the Red Storm are in the midst of its holiday break and are scheduled to return to the court on January 2 against DePaul, who has yet to play a game this season because of pauses due to COVID-19.
