No. 2 St. John’s basketball moment of 2020- Big East Tournament victory over Georgetown

Ten days following St. John’s victory over No. 10 Creighton, the Red Storm would take on Georgetown in the first round of the Big East Tournament.

The Johnnies had previously lost both of its regular-season games against the Hoyas and were down by nine at halftime and things looked bleak in the second half.

Just when it looked like the Red Storm was heading for another bad early loss in the conference tournament, Marcellus Earlington put the team on his back.

The 6-foot-6 forward exploded for 17 points in the second half after scoring only two in the opening half on 7-of-14 shooting and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, including the big three-point shot in crunch time that would put St. John’s ahead and they would never look back as the Red Storm would finish the game on a 23-0 run.

However, no one was anticipating what was waiting less than 24 hours later…
