St. John’s basketball role players must step up

One or two players do not beat Villanova, so while Julian Champagnie and Posh Alexander need to play like stars in order for St. John’s to upset Villanova others need to step up.

It remains to be seen whether or not Greg Williams Jr. (back) will be available to play against the Wildcats as the junior guard took part in pregame warmups against Marquette but was not available for the game.

Even if Williams Jr. is available, he will surely need some time to readjust to the speed and flow of the game after three straight absences and only playing six minutes in the victory over UConn.

Vince Cole, Marcellus Earlington, and Dylan Addae-Wusu have all provided big moments for St. John’s during its four game winning streak and that will need to continue on Wednesday night against Villanova.

Role players play better at home and the St. John’s role players need to be better than the Villanova role players in order for the Johnnies to secure a victory.
