St. John’s basketball prediction against Villanova

St. John’s has the chance to make a national statement on Wednesday night.

It would be the signature victory for Mike Anderson in his first two seasons in Queens and a victory would put the Johnnies squarely on the bubble for the NCAA Tournament.

Despite no fans in attendance, St. John’s will benefit from playing at home but the firepower of Villanova will just be too much for the Red Storm to overcome, like it has been for every Big East team.

The Johnnies will not be intimidated by Villanova but they will not make enough plays down the stretch to knock off the Wildcats in what would be the biggest upset of the night in college basketball.

Tipoff is scheduled for 9:00pm EST (CBS Sports Network) inside Carnesecca Arena.

PREDICTION: No. 3 Villanova 78, St. John’s 72
