St. John’s basketball prediction vs. Seton Hall

It’s very difficult to defeat a team twice in a row and that’s what St. John’s will be facing on Thursday afternoon against Seton Hall.

However, this isn’t the same Red Storm team that is taking the floor at Madison Square Garden as it did in Queens with the addition of Posh Alexander.

It’s an elimination game for whichever team loses in terms of its NCAA Tournament hopes as the winner will face either shorthanded Villanova or Georgetown in the Big East Tournament semifinals.

St. John’s has all the momentum in the world with the weight of the city slowly creeping on its back.

The last time the Johnnies had that type of momentum this season it lost at home to DePaul.

As for Seton Hall, the Pirates will be thrilled to see the regular season end and have its record wiped clean entering the postseason after a four game losing streak to close the year.

St. John’s will make it five straight losses for Seton Hall on Thursday as the Johnnies will advance to the semifinals of the Big East Tournament for the first time since 2000.

Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00pm EST from Madison Square Garden (Fox Sports 1).

PREDICTION: St. John’s 78, Seton Hall 71
