No. 1 Thing to Watch for St. John’s basketball:
Posh Alexander’s Shooting Percentage
When St. John’s was at its best last season Posh Alexander was scoring the ball at a high clip and shooting the ball well.
In victories in which Alexander played, he averaged 13.7 points per game as a freshman while shooting 54.9-percent from the field and 41.8-percent from 3-point range.
In comparison, Alexander averaged 7.3 points per contest in losses for the Johnnies will shooting 38.7-percent from the floor and a startling 8.0-percent (2-for-24) from downtown.
St. John’s was 11-2 in games which Alexander posted double-digits and 3-9 in games he failed to score at least ten points.
If Posh Alexander can not only take the next step in distributing the basketball but also formulating a consistent perimeter game, St. John’s would become much more balanced on offense and be able to force the defense to guard the perimeter much more closely.
