The St. John’s basketball team is ready for a better test after a season opening laugher.
It was easy doings for the St. John’s basketball team in its season opening victory over Mississippi Valley State on Tuesday night but now the competition will get a little more challenging.
St. Peter’s University will come to Queens as the two teams battled on opening night a season ago in which St. John’s needed a last minute comeback to defeat the Peacocks.

Led by former Seton Hall assistant coach Shaheen Holloway, the Peacocks saw a road game against VCU slip between its fingers in the final minutes as the Rams score the final four points of the game to win, 57-54.
Carnesecca Arena had a lot of energy against an inferior opponent and the enthusiasm around the St. John’s program should not dissipate quickly this season.
St. John’s Injury Report vs. St. Peter’s
St. John’s only had one injury concern entering the season and that was the health of sophomore guard Dylan Addae-Wusu.
Head coach Mike Anderson said he did not think Addae-Wusu was going to play on Tuesday night against Mississippi Valley State but was surprised at the progress he made in practice on Monday and during his game day workout.
Dylan Addae-Wusu score eight points in 12 minutes in the season opener and the Johnnies are fully healthy heading into Saturday’s bout with St. Peter’s.
