Things learned in St. John’s basketball first loss of the season:

Rafael Pinzon is going to be a great player for the Johnnies

The one positive that came out of the ejection of Montez Mathis was the extended playing time for Rafael Pinzon.

Pinzon, despite the final play of the game, was excellent against Indiana.

He was calm and poised when possessing the basketball and he did not look overwhelmed by the moment of playing in front of a raucous sell-out crowd in one of the most hostile environments in college basketball.

The guard posted five points, three rebounds, and one assist in 16 minutes on the court while not committing one turnover.

Rafael Pinzon will have an immediate impact on this St. John’s season going forward, and will be a vital player for the Johnnies in years to come.
