Things learned in St. John’s basketball first loss of the season:

Transfer big men must play better

The two big additions in the St. John’s front court did not have a great game on Wednesday night.

Joel Soriano struggled with Indiana forward Trayce Jackson-Davis, as many others have and will continue to do, as the Fordham transfer finished the night with four points and six rebounds on just 1-of-3 shooting.

Soriano also picked up four fouls in just 23 minutes of action.

Purdue transfer Aaron Wheeler was very familiar with Indiana and Assembly Hall but he was another one of the Red Storm transfers to struggle as well.

Wheeler was held scoreless in nine minutes with three rebounds, one assist, and one turnover.

Aaron Wheeler and Joel Soriano struggled in their first major game in a St. John’s uniform but there are not many players in the country who can effectively stay with Trayce Jackson-Davis.

This could have been the most difficult matchup for the duo this season.
