It’s the biggest non-conference game of the season for the St. John’s basketball team against No. 8 Kansas.

The St. John’s basketball team will be looking for its biggest victory of the season in the Big East vs. Big 12 Challenge against the No. 8 Kansas Jayhawks.

St. John’s dropped its only other notable non-conference game this season, a two point road loss against Indiana, while Kansas is coming off a lost last weekend in the ESPN Events Invitational on a buzzer beater against Dayton.

Friday night will be the debut of the Red Storm in the new UBS Arena at Belmont Park as the venue will host its first ever college basketball game.

A win would put an exclamation point on the preseason hype the Johnnies received while a loss would let questions linger if this team is a legit contender in the Big East this season.

St. John’s Injury Report vs. Kansas

St. John’s is still dealing with the lingering injury to freshman guard Rafael Pinzon entering Friday night.

Pinzon suffered a broken left ring finger in practice two weeks ago and a timetable for his return was unknown.

Head coach Mike Anderson said that Pinzon would return to practice this week and he would not rule him out against Kansas.

St. John’s vs. Kansas Odds: Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick

WynnBET’s College Basketball Odds lists St. John’s as a 6.5-point underdog on Friday night as the over/under is set at 157.

Kansas is a National Championship contender and will be making its second trip to New York City this season, albeit in different venues.

The Jayhawks will be looking to avoid dropping two of its last three games after falling on a buzzer beater in Orlando against Dayton.

St. John’s needs this game to send a message to the Big East Conference, and the country, that the Johnnies are legit.

We will take Kansas to win the game but the Johnnies to cover the spread as the total will go under the number listed.
