St. John’s basketball keys to victory against Kansas:

Win the Battle Down Low

St. John’s recruited Fordham transfer Joel Soriano for games like this.

Soriano struggled in his first month as a Johnnie but started to find his groove against NJIT, specifically in overtime.

Kansas will enter UBS Arena with a front-court comprised of David McCormack, Mitch Lightfoot. and Zach Clemence.

While trio combine to only average 10.2 rebounds per game, Kansas anchors its defense and creates a lot of its energy off of its big men.

The team’s leading rebounder is guard Christian Braun at 7.2 boards per game.

The matchup with the Kansas front-court seems like a better matchup for Joel Soriano compared to the versatile Trayce Jackson-Davis of Indiana.
