It is a quick turnaround for the St. John’s basketball team as the Johnnies are back on the floor against Fordham.
The St. John’s basketball team will take the floor back in Queens on Sunday night against cross-borough rival Fordham quickly after its emotional loss against No. 8 Kansas on Friday night.
Fordham, under new head coach Kyle Neptune, has been playing good basketball to begin the season as the Rams already have nine games under its belt.
St. John’s and Fordham have one common opponent this season, St. Francis Brooklyn, a team the Red Storm eventually beat despite struggling with for a majority of the game as the Rams dumped the Terriers last time out, 68-46.
Sunday night marks the first of four consecutive games that could be tabbed as ‘must-wins’ for St. John’s before it enters Big East play on December 20 against Seton Hall.
Red Storm center Joel Soriano will be playing against his former team for the first time in his career as he transferred to St. John’s from Fordham this spring.
St. John’s Injury Report vs. Fordham
St. John’s saw the return of freshman guard Rafael Pinzon on Friday night against Kansas after he missed the last three games with a fractured ring finger on his left hand.
The Red Storm appear fully healthy entering Sunday night’s game but one name to watch is Posh Alexander who looked to injure his calf against Kansas.
Head coach Mike Anderson said following the game that the point guard was dealing with cramps but it is worth nothing that Alexander was in a boot two weeks ago as he missed a game out of an abundance of caution with a calf injury.
