No. 2 St. John’s basketball moment of 2021: Johnnies shock Villanova at Carnesecca Arena

In the middle of a six-game winning streak the Red Storm would outdo themselves and get a massive win at home over then No. 3 Villanova Wildcats.

It was the first time the Johnnies hosted Villanova on campus since 1994 and St. John’s would take down the Wildcats, 70-59.

St. John’s picked up its first Top-5 win since 2018 when the Johnnies took down No.1 Villanova on the road.

The win was the highest-ranked victory on campus for the Red Storm since 1966 and it was a statement game for Posh Alexander as he chipped in 16 points, but more importantly forced All-American Collin Gillespie into six turnovers in a masterful defensive performance.

It would be the highlight of a stellar rookie campaign for the Brooklyn native.

Julian Champagnie would also notch a double-double with a 14 point,13 rebound night.
