No. 1 St. John’s basketball moment of 2021: Top-25 road win over UConn
St. John’s came into the game against then No. 23 UConn in need of a win after starting off 2-6 in Big East play.
The Johnnies would pull off the road upset by a score of 74-70 despite falling into an early 14-point hole.
Posh Alexander was one of five Red Storm players in double figures as the freshman led the team with 18 points, six assists, and three steals in a statement performance on the road.
The now-departed Marcellus Earlington also chipped in 15 points off the bench in one of his best performances in a St. John’s uniform.
The forward from Stony Point, New York has since transferred to San Diego.
The game marked the first St. John’s victory in Storrs since 2001 as it was the first matchup between the two sides since 2013.
The victory also kick-started a massive six-game win streak, five straight in conference play, that changed Red Storm’s season.
