The St. John’s basketball finishes its road trip against the Connecticut Huskies.

In its first game back on the court in 18 days, the St. John’s basketball team had a chance to steal a game on the road against No. 16 Providence but fell flat in the second half to lose by ten, 83-73.

The Johnnies (9-3, 1-0 Big East) will finish its two game road trip against the Connecticut Huskies as both teams will look for a much needed victory.

UConn, like St. John’s, has dropped two of its last three games and Saturday was also the first game back from a COVID pause for Dan Hurley’s team which fell on the road to No. 24 Seton Hall.

The Huskies are led by senior guard RJ Cole (16.2 PPG) and Adama Sanogo (14.9 PPG), who will surely give the Red Storm mismatches in the paint as St. John’s has been unable to contain potent big men all season.

St. John’s will need a much improved performance from Julian Champagnie, who was 5-of-19 from the field against Providence and missed all eight of his 3-point attempts.

St. John’s Injury Report vs. UConn

St. John’s saw the return of Tareq Coburn (back) on Saturday against Providence, although he did not get in the game, while Rafael Pinzon (COVID-19) remained out against the Friars.

Esahia Nyiwe appeared to turn his ankle early in the first half against Providence and did not return to the game.

Mike Anderson did not have an update on his forward following the game.

Nyiwe and Pinzon are game time decisions against the Huskies.

St. John’s vs. UConn Odds: Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick

WynnBET’s College Basketball Odds lists UConn as a massive 11.5-point favorite at home against the Johnnies on Wednesday night while the total is listed at 150.

Winning on the road against UConn might be a taller task for St. John’s than winning against Providence on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Storm seem too dependent on its stars, Posh Alexander and Julian Champagnie, to win on the road in the conference and St. John’s will need a much better performance from its duo against UConn than it got against Providence.

We will take UConn to win, and cover the big number at home, on Wednesday while the total will go over the number listed.
