The St. John’s basketball team is looking for its first ranked victory of the season.

It is the second matchup between the St. John’s basketball team and the UConn Huskies this year and the Johnnies have revenge on its mind.

Julian Champagnie looked to cap off an incredible comeback on Storrs with a go-ahead 3-pointer with 4.8 seconds left but a couple of UConn bounces allowed the Huskies to force overtime and win in the extra five minutes.

St. John’s season is slipping away and a win on Sunday is a must if it wants any chance at a legitimate shot at the postseason.

UConn is looking to snap its losing skid as it has dropped three of its last four games, including a 74-68 defeat on the road to No. 25 Xavier on Friday night.

The player to watch will be Adama Sanogo, who averages 15.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game and posted 26 points and 18 rebounds against the Johnnies in the first matchup.

St. John’s Injury Report vs. UConn

The injury report again is a major topic of conversation as St. John’s takes the court against UConn.

Sophomore point guard Posh Alexander did not play on Tuesday night against Villanova after spraining his ankle last Saturday against Butler and was in a walking boot on his right foot.

St. John’s said he would be evaluated on a day-to-day basis and remains as a game-time decision.

Julian Champagnie fell hard on his hip against Villanova and was in-and-out of the lineup for the rest of the game, although he did not look like himself.

The program said the same for Champagnie. Evaluated day-to-day and is questionable for the game.

However, a photo surfaced on the internet of practice on Saturday with Julian Champagnie on the court and Posh Alexander off the court, dressed, and without a boot.

Perhaps that bodes will for their availability on Sunday afternoon.

Rafael Pinzon remains out.

St. John’s vs. UConn Odds: Spread, Over/Under & Betting Pick

WynnBET’s College Basketball Odds lists St. John’s as a 3.5-point underdog at home against No. 24 UConn on Sunday afternoon while the total is listed at 150.5.

Our pick on Tuesday was based off an educated guess on who would play and who would be out and everything was incorrect and we will do the same with Sunday’s prediction.

Let’s say that Julian Champagnie plays and Posh Alexander is our for the Johnnies and our pick will be UConn as the front-court fo the Huskies will be too much to handle.

UConn will cover the spread and the total will go over the number listed.
