St. John’s basketball keys to victory against Villanova:

Be Disciplined Defensively

St. John’s chaotic style on defense is a tough matchup for Villanova because of how poised and deliberate the Wildcats are.

Villanova utilizes shot fakes more than any team in the country and always make the extra pass.

St. John’s typically bites on those shot fakes and tries to jump into the passing lanes which allow easy looks at the basket.

Mike Anderson has preached that his team will need to win this week at Madison Square Garden with its defense and that will certainly be put to the test on Thursday night.

It showed on Wednesday night but will it carry over to a better opponent?

The Johnnies have to try and stay disciplined against the potent and veteran defense of Villanova if they want a chance at pulling the upset.
