St. John’s (17-13, 7-12) has a huge opportunity to bolster its NCAA Tournament resume, ending the regular season with a matchup against No. 6 Marquette (24-6, 16-3). The Red Storm won three of their last five games, while the Golden Eagles have five straight wins but are just 3-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven contests.

While Marquette has already locked up the Big East title and likely just wants to stay healthy, St. John’s has a ton to play for. I have a bet on the total in this one, though you can lock in a HUGE win thanks to DraftKings Sportsbook’s fantastic promo: Bet $5, Win $150 on any moneyline win!

See below how to claim this special offer before I break down the matchup.

St. John’s vs. Marquette Prediction and Pick

The first matchup between these teams this year finished 96-85, soaring over the total. Despite that, I’m expecting a lower-scoring game today and am taking the UNDER.

St. John’s plays at the fastest pace in the nation, but I anticipate Marquette will slow things down to avoid injury ahead of the Big East Tournament. A slower pace will force the Red Storm to make shots, but St. John’s ranks 233rd nationally in effective field goal percentage (49.5%).

With only the 300th-best free throw rate (27.6%), the Red Storm don’t make many free throws either. Marquette has one of the nation’s best offenses but slowed down of late, notching 72 or fewer points in three of its last four.

Recent trends support an under bet as well. The under is 4-2 in the Red Storm’s last six games and 3-1 in Marquette’s last four. I expect this total to be a tick too high based on the high-scoring first game. Hold your nose and bet the under in this Big East finale.
