The Big East is still a premier basketball conference in the country but the league is already shaping up to be a contrast between two divisions.

The Top-5 of the league could be as good as anyone in the country while the bottom five have shown major struggles throughout the year and, although it has only been two weeks, could bring down the overall metrics of the conference.

Next week will be very important as most team will be playing in its multi-team events against top teams from other conferences, but for now here are the Big East basketball power rankings through two weeks of the season:

1. UConn Huskies (3-0)

It's still the status quo for the two-time defending champions, who have not played anyone of significance yet. Just one more 'buy game' awaits the Huskies before they head to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational.

The schedule picks up very quickly for Dan Hurley's team upon its return from the island and the world will soon find out if this team can be a contender for its third straight National Championship.

2. Marquette Golden Eagles (4-0)

Marquette moves up a spot in this week's power rankings after its impressive road victory against Maryland on Friday night. The Golden Eagles have showcased its ability to play the style of basketball that Shaka Smart wants but encountered speed bumps along the way through the first two weeks.

Kam Jones is playing like a First Team All-American candidate, averaging 24.0 points per game on 54.5-percent shooting from 3-point range, after scoring 28 points against the Terrapins.

Things get more difficult as Purdue, who just defeated No. 2 Alabama, will travel to Milwaukee on Tuesday night while a neutral site game against Georgia is also on the schedule for Marquette this weekend in the Bahamas.
