Big East basketball power rankings have two distinct divisions after more upsets

Things are becoming much more clear after two weeks of basketball in the Big East

5. Xavier Musketeers (4-0)

Xavier is nearly in the same boat as St. John's with its very talented roster but still waiting to prove that it should be talked about with the other top teams in the league and country.

The Musketeers defeated Wake Forest on Saturday but, unlike the Johnnies, do not have that massive game on its non-conference schedule. Sean Miller's team will play South Carolina in the Fort Myers Tip-Off with Michigan or Virginia Tech looming.

Health remains the biggest key for this team because when they are on the court, they will score in bunches.

6. Providence Friars (4-0)

Providence, again, gets the No. 6 spot in the rankings by default.

The Friars are undefeated but haven't impressed as they continue to play without star Bryce Hopkins.

Depending on when Hopkins returns, the Battle 4 Atlantis could be very challenging given its lack of efficiency shooting the 3-point ball. Providence will have one more 'buy game' before heading to the island.
