10. Georgetown Hoyas (7-2)
Georgetown is now 0-2 in big moments this year and Friday’s loss to West Virginia really must hurt.
The Hoyas were playing well, until they weren’t. A 4-point lead in the second half was gone in a flash after West Virginia rattled off a 16-0 run to seize control of the game and leave many questioning the mental toughness of this Georgetown team.
Can they hang in tough, physical games? We don’t know.
They have one more crack at a power conference non-conference opponent with a matchup against Syracuse on Saturday afternoon.
11. Seton Hall Pirates (5-5)
There really isn’t much to say about Seton Hall.
After losing to a winless Monmouth team, it had to battle NJIT at home for an 11-point win and then dug a 27-9 hole at home against Oklahoma State in the first 10 minutes that was too big to dig out of.
I guess the one positive is that Seton Hall has finally scored more than 70 points in a game this season with its 76 put on the board against the Cowboys.
A trip to Rutgers comes on Saturday before league play begins next Tuesday against Villanova.
