It looked like the fairytale ending would not be in the cards for Keegan Bradley this year at the Travelers Championship, but the St. John’s Hall of Famer had one last closing kick in him.
After a bogey on the 14th hole, he fell behind leader Tommy Fleetwood by three strokes with four holes to play. Fleetwood, who shot a near-perfect 7-under, 63, on Saturday, looked destined to get his first win on the PGA Tour but the nerves approached quickly and wreaked havoc.
Bradley got a stroke back with a 36-foot birdie at No. 15, his second birdie of over 36-feet after sinking a 64-footer on No. 9, he got within one shot after Fleetwood bogeyed the par-3 16th hole.
The race to the clubhouse was officially on.
The Connecticut crowd rallied behind the Woodstock, Vermont native who has called the New England region home for nearly his entire life.
Both Keegan Bradley and Tommy Fleetwood carded a par on the difficult 17th hole and stood on the tee box of No. 18 with one shot separating the two players. Each player hit their drive in the middle of the fairway, but that’s when everything changed.
Fleetwood, from 148 yards out, switched his club from a 9-iron to a pitching wedge at the last moment and came up just short of the green, giving himself a 50-foot putt for birdie and to win the tournament.
Bradley, 138 yards away, stuck his pitching wedge to 6-feet.

Prior to Fleetwood’s attempt to win the tournament, Russell Henley, who was playing in the final grouping after the fourth round was delayed due to inclement weather, holed out from 52-feet away in the rough to get to 14-under par for the tournament.
He sat in a tie with Bradley for second place at the moment, but Fleetwood came up woefully short on his first putt attempt and was still outside the distance of Bradley’s putt.
The England native had 7-feet for par to finish at 15-under and force Bradley to make his birdie putt to send the tournament to a playoff but missed it on the right side of the hole and tapped in for bogey.
All Bradley had to do to win his second Travelers Championship in three years was make his 6-foot putt which was on the same exact line as Fleetwood’s, and he wouldn’t waste the opportunity.

The ball hit the bottom of the cup. The crowd exploded and chants of "USA! USA! USA!" echoed. Bradley’s arms went into the air in celebration as he completed a miraculous comeback.
A 2-under round, which resulted in a 15-under tournament, and two birdies in the final four holes after he looked like he gave away a chance at winning on the 14th hole.
It was Keegan Bradley’s 13th victory as a professional and his eighth on the PGA Tour as he sent a strong message that he should consider himself as a playing captain of the United States’ Ryder Cup Team at Bethpage Black this fall.
