Big East basketball power rankings entering 2024
4. Villanova Wildcats (9-4, 2-0 Big East)
Three of Villanova's losses have shockingly come against the Philly Big-5 and the other was on the road in overtime against Kansas State when Justin Moore injured his knee and was unavailable for the majority of the second half.
Since its three game losing streak, the Wildcats have won three games in a row, two coming on the road, and could easily extend its streak to six straight and start 5-0 in the Big East with home games looming against Xavier, St. John's, and DePaul.
Its championship in the Battle 4 Atlantis, which included victories over North Carolina and Memphis, cannot be overlooked and when this team comes out ready to play it is as good as just about anyone in the country.
Eric Dixon and Justin Moore know how to win and it looks like things are on the right track on the Main Line after a disastrous first season under Kyle Neptune.
3. Providence Friars (11-2, 2-0 Big East)
You have to appreciate what Kim English has done with the Providence Friars.
An unproven head coach stepping in to a program which maintained a lot of talent from last year and all he has done is won -- with a fanbase that was already furious with Ed Cooley's decision to leave Friartown.
A thrashing of Wisconsin and Marquette at home and a gritty overtime victory against Butler has the Friars in the Top-25 and proving that they should be talked about as one of the best teams in the Big East.
Devin Carter and Bryce Hopkins have led the way and the impact Josh Oduro has made coming from George Mason cannot be overlooked.
Road games are looming against Creighton and St. John's but English has a roster that knows what it takes to win in the Big East.
