2. Marquette Golden Eagles (10-3, 1-1 Big East)
Marquette looked like it was in position to be ranked No. 1 in the country in November after a win on the road against Illinois and going to Hawaii and running then No. 1 Kansas out of the gym by 14 points but fell just short against then No. 2 Purdue in the title game.
However, the road has been unkind to Shaka Smart's team with double digit losses coming against Wisconsin and Providence but the benefit of the doubt has to be given to the defending conference champions to keep them at No. 2 in the power rankings.
Tyler Kolek is not only one of the best guard in the Big East, but one of the best in the country, and Kam Jones and Oso Ighodaro round out the perfect balance of an inside-out attack for Marquette.
After seeing similar success in the regular season last year, the big question remains if the Golden Eagles can go on a run in the NCAA Tournament.
1. UConn Huskies (11-2, 1-1 Big East)
The defending National Champions still remain at the top of the Big East Power Rankings but now have a major question mark next to its name with the injury to Donovan Clingan.
Clingan was injured in the second half against Seton Hall and has been ruled out for 3-4 weeks with a tendon injury in his foot, the second injury to his right foot this season.
The Huskies looked much different in its first full game without the All-Big East center but Samson Johnson thrived in its close victory over St. John's and the backcourt of Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer have enough firepower to survive until Clingan returns.
