There's a unique relationship between Aaron Scott and the St. John's basketball program.

Scott was courted by the Johnnies as soon as he entered the transfer portal but he was on the other side of the computer as New York went through history with an earthquake on April 5.

It was the first meeting between Rick Pitino and the North Texas transfer on Zoom and the Hall of Famer documented it on social media.

"Omg - was just on a zoom call with a recruit and an earthquake hit. First ever for me. We have to get this young man now," he posted.

Just 19 days later and the Red Storm officially have Aaron Scott after he announced his commitment on Wednesday, becoming the second player to sign with the program in as many days following USC center Vince Iwuchukwu.

"Pumped with Aaron Scott joining the Johnnies. He has a great work ethic and shoots and defends," Pitino said on social media Wednesday night.

"Patience is a virtue in getting the right formula. With our freshmen and returnees to go along with these great athletes, Vince and Aaron, your tickets will be more valuable than Nvidia!"

Nvidia is a software company that specializes in AI, gaming, designs, and much more, apparently very well known to Rick Pitino.

“We competed against him this past year and know him extremely well. He is a multidimensional forward who brings a lot to our team from the offensive and defensive end," Pitino said in a statement released by the program.

It marks a quality beginning of the offseason for the Johnnies, who still have work to do filling out the rest of its team.

St. John's still has three scholarships open for next season and will be looking to add at least two major impact players to its roster.
