As the calendar year comes to a close, it's time to look back at the top five moments for the St. John's basketball team in 2023.

It has been quite the rollercoaster of a year featuring a coaching change and a complete overhaul of the program to the point where it seems strange to talk about great moments from the tail end of last season, given how much the team has changed.

Nevertheless, here are the top moments from the Johnnies in 2023.

5. St. John's takes down No. 20 Providence at Madison Square Garden

Once again going back to last season, our No. 5 moment is when the Red Storm got another ranked win under its belt by upsetting Providence, 73-68, on February 11.

At the time, it kept a dying NCAA Tournament berth just barely alive.

A close game for the entire way, St. John's would go into halftime with a slender 37-35 lead and do just enough to hold off the Friars in the second half for the upset victory.

David Jones led the way with 16 points and seven rebounds, Joel Soriano had one of his signature double-doubles with 10 points and 13 rebounds, and Posh Alexander had 10 points and a season-high nine assists.
