4. Joe Tartamella wins Big East Coach of the Year

Coming off consecutive disappointing seasons with the Red Storm going 12-19 (7-12, Big East) in 2021-22, Tartamella led a massive turnaround with St. John's finishing the 2022-23 season with a 23-9 record making its first NCAA Tournament in seven years.

The program also got its first win in the Big Dance since 2014. The Johnnies were picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll prior to the start of last season.

Led by a bunch of transfers along with many experienced players, the Red Storm put together its best start to a season in program history, winning its first 13 games.

It was Tartamella's first time being named Big East Coach of the Year and fourth coach to receive the honor in program history joining Kim Barnes-Arico, Joe Mullaney Jr, and Don Perelli.
