The St. John’s basketball team lost another player off its roster on Tuesday afternoon as Jaiden Glover will enter the transfer portal.
Glover played just one season with the Johnnies after entering Queens as a 4-star recruit from The Patrick School (NJ).
His season was cut short due to injury, needing to undergo wrist surgery and not appearing in a game after February 12. His injury lingered, originally getting hurt in early January but aggravated it prior to a February 19 game against DePaul and never saw the court again.
He averaged just 2.2 points per game on 33.3-percent (10-of-30) shooting from 3-point range.
Glover marks the third departure from the Red Storm this season after Brady Dunlap and RJ Luis also entered the transfer portal, although Luis has made his intentions clear that he plans to pursue a pro career after entering the NBA Draft instead of picking a new school for his senior season.
St. John’s has already started its transfer portal additions with Arizona State guard Joson Sanon and Providence forward Bryce Hopkins.
The news of Glover entering the portal does not come as a surprise to the Johnnies due to its pursuit of many guards in the transfer portal as well as its new interest in 4-star guard Acaden Lewis, who recently decommitted from Kentucky and visited St. John’s.
Saint Joseph’s, who was a major player in Jaiden Glover’s high school recruitment, is expected to be a suitor for his services once again.
Players have until April 22 to enter the transfer portal unless there was a head coaching change at their school and that would extend the portal until 30 days after the coach’s departure.
