Sometimes recruiting can take a back seat until the offseason with the St. John’s basketball program, but the Johnnies have landed its first prospect of the cycle in 4-star guard Adam Oumiddoch.

Oumiddoch, a native of Virginia, started his high school career at Bishop O’Connell High School (Va.) before making the switch to Overtime Elite – where his career has taken off.

The 6-foot-5 guard is currently tabbed as a 4-star prospect and the No. 46 player in the 247Sports Composite rankings. Through three games this season at OTE, he is averaging 31.0 points per game on 42.1-percent shooting from 3-point range.

Last season, he posted 17.1 points per contest and has seen his scoring numbers increase over his first two seasons in the league.

Oumiddoch picked St. John’s over Oregon, Villanova, LSU, Illinois, and others after visiting with the Johnnies prior to its exhibition game against Michigan at the end of October, and he becomes the first commit in the Red Storm’s 2026 recruiting class.

“We’ll take probably two of three [freshmen] this year,” St. John’s head coach Rick Pitino said last Friday before his team played Alabama at Madison Square Garden about his high school recruiting philosophy.

“We recruit freshmen, it’s just that we have to have older players.”

St. John’s has four freshmen on its current roster with international players Fotis Konstantinidis, Imran Suljanovic, and Casper Pohto along with Kelvin Odih, who entered Queens as a 4-star recruit.

None have received significant playing time yet, although the Red Storm are only two games into its season.

As a freshman, Adam Oumiddoch should be able to bring a talented offensive skillset to the Johnnies that thrives well in Rick Pitino’s system.

St. John’s is not directly involved with any other available recruits at the moment but that will likely change as things continue to evolve on the circuit throughout the season.
