The St. John’s basketball one-man recruiting class now stands at zero after Adam Oumiddoch announced he is reopening his recruitment on Tuesday evening.
Oumiddoch, a Top 50 recruit, originally picked the Red Storm in November over Oregon, Villanova, LSU, Illinois, and others. Since his commitment, St. John’s fired its general manger.
He visited the program during its exhibition game against Michigan earlier this season.
"I'm thankful to Coach Pitino, Coach Masiello, and everyone at St. John's for the opportunity and belief they showed in me," Oumiddoch wrote in his social media post. "New York City and the chance to play at Madison Square Garden is something every kid dreams about.
"After a lot of reflection and conversations with my family, I've decided to step back and reopen my recruitment,” he continued.

"This wasn't an easy decision and it comes with a great deal of respect for the St. John's program. I appreciate the support and look forward to what's next."
Adam Oumiddoch was the only player St. John’s 2026 recruiting class, which has not put a primary focus on American born recruits since Rick Pitino took over the program.
Listed at 6-foot-6, Oumiddoch emerged on the recruiting scene on the Adidas 3SSB circuit last year, averaging 17.4 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting 44-percent from 3-point range.
A standout at Overtime Elite, he posted 28.2 points per game.
St. John’s will have a lot of options for its roster next season, specifically in the backcourt. It will await decisions from Ian Jackson and Joson Sanon while also could retain Dylan Darling, Lefteris Liotopoulos, and Kelvin Odih.
The Red Storm, as always, will be a major player in the transfer portal in trying to fill out its vacant roster spots this offseason.
As in the previous two offseasons, St. John’s could take on a high school recruit if there is a decommitment in the spring.
