Another St. John’s basketball player will have a presence at NBA Summer League after Oziyah Sellers inked a deal with the New York Knicks following the 2026 NBA Draft.
Sellers, in his only season with the Red Storm, averaged 10.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game while shooting 42.9-percent from the floor and 35.1-percent from 3-point range. He previously spent time at USC and Stanford before joining the Johnnies.
In his final season with the Trojans, the 6-foot-5 guard shot 42.9-percent from deep and 40.1-percent in his only season with the Cardinal.
St. John’s had a record three players – Zuby Ejiofor, Dillon Mitchell, and Bryce Hopkins – selected in the 2026 NBA Draft last week as its presence in the league continues to grow.
In the last three years the Red Storm have seen some of its players have big performances in the showcase, such as Daniss Jenkins’ emergence with the Detroit Pistons and Kadary Richmond eventually landing a spot with the Washinton Wizards.
Granted, both of those players went undrafted and needed the opportunity to prove they belonged in the league.
Ironically, two of Oziyah Sellers’ best performances with St. John’s came in Las Vegas when he scored 20 points in a loss against Iowa State and 22 points in a win over Baylor. While he will be returning to the same city as one of his best Red Storm moments, the venue will be much different as Summer League plays at the Thomas & Mack Center as well as Cox Pavilion.
The Knicks Summer League team is currently slated to play five games in Las Vegas, beginning on Friday July 10.
New York is trying to avoid going into the second apron in defending its NBA Championship and hoping to find young, cheap players that could make an impact to either the big league or G-League roster.
