St. John’s Red Storm Irks Possible Recruit Rashond Salnave
By Joe Nardone
Reportedly the St. John’s Red Storm made Rashond Salnave not very happy by not appearing at an open court that featured the talented high school Junior.
One would think that no showing an open court would not be that big of a deal, but a slew of other Division I programs were there. So, apparently at least, Rashon Salnave felt a bit unwanted by the Johnnies.
For what it is worth, Rashond Salnave isn’t exactly considered a top-tier recruit. So, um, maybe the Red Storm didn’t appear at the open court because they are not interested in obtaining his services via scholarship.

Numerous scouting websites have Salnave either N/R (meaning so low that they don’t really keep tabs on him) or somewhere between being ranked as the 200-400 ranked recruit in the country. However, he has been lighting it up at the high school level and numerous other big time programs are really interested in the kid.
This is an interesting recruiting process worth following for various reasons. The biggest may be the possible poor ranking of the shooting guard backfiring on programs ignoring him or the exact opposite, as other programs are falling too in love with his huge high school numbers but ignoring the fact that people who scout don’t see the kid as being that big of a deal.
