The St. John’s Red Storm are again a hyped preseason darling according to those who love the Big East Conference. Last year it was every media member and their collective mothers agreeing that the Johnnies were going to be all that and a bag of chips (just as any fyi, they were not). Now it is the league’s coaches were think highly of the talent on the Red Storm’s roster. According to those suit wearing misfits at Big East Media Day, St. John’s is likely to finish third in the Big East.
Here is the rundown on how the league is expected to play out via those fancy coaches:
Order | Team | Points |
1 | Villanova Wildcats (9) | 81 |
2 | Georgetown Hoyas (1) | 67 |
3 | St. John’s Red Storm | 65 |
4 | Xavier Musketeers | 52 |
5 | Providence Friars | 49 |
6 | Seton Hall Pirates | 43 |
7 | Butler Bulldogs | 28 |
Marquette Golden Eagles | 28 | |
9 | Creighton Bluejays | 25 |
10 | DePaul Blue Demons | 12 |
While Georgetown coming in at second — and even receiving a first place vote — is rather surprising, it is DePaul’s dominance as Big East cellar dwellers that remains the story. Because, um, you know, the Blue Demons have really stunk for a long time now and Oliver Purnell still has a job attempting to coach the team. To be fair though, DePaul’s team is going to be much better than last year.
Okay, now let me go confess my sins to a priest or something as I just lied to you about DePaul.
Or did I?
BAH BAH BAAAAAAAAH
