St. John’s Incoming Transfer Joey De La Rosa Reportedly Eligible in Two Weeks
By Joe Nardone
According to the possibly gorgeous and certainly talented New York Post scribe Zach Braziller, former Florida International University big Joey De La Rosa will be eligible to play for St. John’s at some point in mid-to-late December. Braziller has reported a more exact date. How do I know? Well…
Now, please, everyone calm down a minute.
Yes, St. John’s desperately needs some help in their frontcourt. Certainly, the Johnnies have almost zero bench. For sure, any body is better than no body (I mean “body” quite literally). But I am not so sure that a career 6 minutes per game guy at FIU is the answer. Despite my negativity, though, his being soon eligible does not hurt.

Joey De La Rosa is a 6’11” center who has never averaged over 2 points or 2 boards per game in a season. Still, he is pretty tall. We love tall people at St. John’s. Tall people are going to eventually rule the world.
In all seriousness, this is good news for the Red Storm because running their six-to-seven man rotation will eventually spell doom. All warm, mobile bodies are welcome.
