Monmouth graduate transfer Ray Salnave has committed to the DePaul Blue Demons over the St. John’s basketball program and others.

St. John’s fans thought they could be seeing a lot of Monmouth graduate transfer Ray Salnave and although it might not be what the Johnnie faithful had in mind, they will still be seeing the point guard at least two times in the 2020-21 season.

On Wednesday afternoon, Salnave tweeted that he will be joining the DePaul Blue Demons over St. John’s and Loyola Marymount.

Despite ramping up the pressure on the point guard last week, St. John’s pulled out of the race for Salnave considering it did not have an open scholarship on is roster.

The Red Storm are still awaiting the NBA Draft decision of junior wing LJ Figueroa, who is expected to return to Queens for his senior season and fill the last scholarship spot on Mike Anderson‘s squad in his second season at the helm of the St. John’s problem.

In his final season at Monmouth, Ray Salnave was named to the All-MAAC team and averaged 14.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1.5 steals per game on 39.6 percent shooting from the field and 36.4 percent from 3-point territory.

The Elmont, New York native will head to Chicago to join a backcourt with Charlie Moore who posted 15.5 points per game for the Blue Demons.

Salnave will also fill some much needed holes for DePaul who has lost five players to the NCAA transfer portal since the premature end to the season.

St. John’s swept DePaul last season after the Blue Demons started the season 12-1 and finished the year at 16-16 (3-15 Big East) who finished in last place in the conference for the fourth straight season.
