The St. John’s basketball team will be hosting the Sacred Heard Pioneers once again in the 2020-21 season at Carnesecca Arena.
St. John’s 2020-21 non-conference schedule is slowing coming out as the Red Storm will be hosting the Sacred Heart Pioneers at Carnesecca Arena next season.
The Johnnies already have a game on the docket against the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Lubbock in the Big East vs. Big 12 Showdown, in addition to playing in the NIT Season Tip-Off with a field consisting of Arizona, Cincinnati, and those same Red Raiders which will be played in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The two games in Brooklyn will be played in November 25 and 27.
However, this game against Sacred Heart is the first confirmed game that St. John’s will host in the 2020-21 season and the game will be played in Queens rather than Madison Square Garden.
The Red Storm have a history in matchup up with the Pioneers as the last matchup between the two teams came in the 2018-19 season at Carnesecca Arena with the Johnnies coming away with a 104-82 victory led by 23 points from Marvin Clark II and Mustapha Heron.
St. John’s and Sacred Heart also faced off in the 2017-18 season where Chris Mullin’s squad cruised to a 25-point victory, 90-55.
Sacred Heart has never defeated the Johnnie in the four matchups the two have squared off in, the first coming back in the 1999-2000 season.

The 22-point margin of defeat two seasons ago was the closest matchup of the four games.
As a valued member of the Northeast Conference, Sacred Heart is coming off of a 20-13 (12-6 Northeast) season which ended in a loss to St. Francis in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

The first report of the game came from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, although a date has not be set nor confirmed.
In its first season under head coach Mike Anderson, St. John’s is coming off of a 17-15 season (5-13 Big East) and should return a large numbers of players from a year ago.
