The St. John’s basketball team offered Class of 2022 guard Otega Oweh, another New Jersey high school standout.
Mike Anderson and the St. John’s coaching staff are back on the recruiting trail scouting Class of 2022 guards and the Red Storm have found another New Jersey standout that could bring a feisty mentality to Queens.
The Johnnies offered Otega Oweh on Monday night, a 6-foot-4 combo guard in the rising junior class.
Oweh attends Rutgers Preparatory (NJ) and has started to pick up some steam with major conference teams after getting offers from DePaul and Nebraska.

Otega Oweh took a major leap from his freshman season, averaging 14.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.4 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game as a sophomore, compared to the 2.8 points per game he averaged in his freshman campaign.
The size, skill, athleticism, explosiveness, and physicality can be seen in his sophomore highlight video as Rutgers Prep posted a 27-2 record which ended in a loss in the Championship Game of the NJSIAA Non-Public B Sectional Tournament to Wildwood Catholic, 80-67.
St. John’s has not been shy in offering guards in the Class of 2022, currently with 14 scholarships extended to point guards and shooting guards in the class.

Mike Anderson has been very persistent on the recruiting since taking the job at St. John’s and that hard work should pay off soon with a commitment from a player in the Class of 2021 or 2022.
The Red Storm currently have a five-man 2020 recruiting class made up of two high school prospect, Posh Alexander and Dylan Wusu, two junior college standouts in Vince Cole and Isaih Moore, and George Washington graduate transfer Arnaldo Toro.
St. John’s incoming class is ranked as the No. 77 in the country and the No. 7 class in the Big East.
