A slew of national offers recently poured in for a Class of 2021 St. John’s basketball prospect.

More college coaches are taking notice of Class of 2021 prospect Ramses “RJ” Melendez as the shooting guard brought in a slew of offers over the last couple of days.

Melendez picked up offers from VCU, LSU, DePaul, Nebraska, Ole Miss, and Virginia Tech have all extended offers to the Hatillo, Puerto Rico native since June 10.

The Central Pointe Christian Academy (FL) standout stands at 6-foot-6 and is listed as shooting guard as the Twitter account for his team tweeted back on May 19 that Melendez would “blow up this summer, regardless of quarantine.”

Central Florida,, Villanova, and Georgia Tech have reportedly been in contract with the two-star prospect although no offers have been made by those programs.

RJ Melendez also has offers from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, South Florida, Florida Atlantic, Oklahoma State, and Florida, while picking up his offer from St. John’s back in September 2019.

Many have described Melendez as a high level and explosive athlete that can shoot the ball very well from 3-point range as well as being an efficient scorer while slashing to the basket.

Despite the comments that Melendez will “blow up” this summer, it certainly seems the guard is attracting the attention of many high level programs across the country despite the no live recruiting events this summer because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Head coach Mike Anderson has made it very clear that guards are a priority for him on the recruiting trail and he is looking for players with a high motor and ability to shoot the ball well and RJ Melendez might be one of those perfect guards in the Red Storm’s system.
