The St. John’s basketball program will be meeting with four-star power forward Alex Tchikou this week.
Recruiting is the hot topic in college basketball these days and there are few programs extending their branches like the St. John’s Red Storm.
Not only has Mike Anderson and his coaching staff been contacting Class of 2022 prospects following the June 15 date for coaches to have direct contact with the rising junior class, but Anderson has also been dealing with the rising senior class.

St. John’s does not have a commitment yet for a player in the Class of 2021, but the Johnnies have been testing their luck with national and local prospect.
The Red Storm will be continuing its heavy pursuit of four-star power forward Alex Tchikou this week with a virtual meeting, first reported by Jake Weingarten of StockRisers.
Tchikou is a Glendale, Ariona native and stars at Dream City Christian School, the same school as Arthur Kaluma, a Class of 2021 prospect that St. John’s has already met with this week.
Standing at 6-foot-11, Alex Tchikou is ranked as the No. 40 recruit in the country, No. 10 power forward, and No. 3 prospect in the state of Arizona.
Tchikou also holds offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Georgetown, Illinois, North Carolina State, Nebraska, Oregon, TCU, UCLA, and Washington, among others.

There are also several programs that have shown interest in the power forward but have not offered like Creighton, Gonzaga, Kansas, Maryland, Oklahoma State, USC, Virginia, and Virginia Tech.
St. John’s offered Tchikou, who is originally from Paris, France, back on April 15.

It’d be a major accomplishment for Mike Anderson to land an Arizona prospect and bring him to Queens, but things seem to be trending more to the Red Storm focusing in on local prospects early in Anderson’s tenure before branching out to national prospects.
