St. John’s basketball prospect Nick Smith recently posted the programs that have extended offers and have interest in him.
In recent years, St. John’s has made it a priority to land recruit in the New York metropolitan area.
While there are some exceptions to that statement, Mike Anderson seems to be branching out to more of a national search when it comes to finding the next crop of players that come through Queens.

Class of 2022 prospect Nick Smith recently tweeted out a graphic that includes some of his offers and interests from programs around the county.
Smith, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard, is a native of Sherwood, Arkansas and stars at Sylvan Hills High School, the same state in which Anderson previously coached in prior to arriving at St. John’s.
The four-star prospect holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgetown, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, St. John’s, Texas, Florida, and DePaul, among others.
Programs that have reached out to Smith but not officially offered him yet are Iowa, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Ohio State, Kansas, Iowa State, and Purdue.
Nick Smith is ranked as the No. 44 player in the Class of 2022 and the No. 10 shooting guard in the country while being the No. 1 player in the state of Arkansas, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

As Mike Anderson continues to reshape the culture and image of the St. John’s basketball program, it will be interesting to see if the veteran head coach is able to bring prospects from the South up to New York while creating recruiting relationships with the powerhouse high school programs in New York City.

The Red Storm have yet to land a recruit in the Class of 2021 or 2022 but the persistence on the recruiting trail from the St. John’s coaching staff should pay off rather soon.
