St. John’s basketball target Franck Kepnang reportedly will not reclassify from the Class of 2021 to the Class of 2020 after previous interest.

After reports surfaced that St. John’s target Franck Kepnang was thinking about reclassifying into the Class of 2020, the four-star prospect told Jake Weingarten of StockRisers that he will remain in the rising senior class.

Kepnang is ranked as the No. 25 player in the Class of 2021, the No. 6 center, and the No. 2 player the state of Pennsylvania, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

The Red Storm conducted a virtual meeting with the 6-foot-11 big man on June 8 but he has also had meetings with Texas A&M on June 9, Georgetown on June 12, and Vanderbilt on June 23.

Kepnang also picked up an offer from DePaul on June 9.

The Westtown High School (PA) star holds offers from Auburn, Kansas, Maryland, Miami, Connecticut, Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Oregon, Ohio State, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Washington and UCLA, among others.

Kepnang told Weingarten that the Kentucky Wildcats also keep in contact with him but head coach John Calipari has not officially extended an offer yet.

The same can be said for Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils.

Franck Kepnang has taken unofficial visits to St. John’s, Georgetown, and Maryland last season and if he were to reclassify he could have filled the final scholarship spot on the Red Storm roster that was unexpectedly left behind by rising senior wing LJ Figueroa who announced his transfer to the Oregon Ducks last weekend.

St. John’s, as a program, and head coach Mike Anderson have not been known for landing star big men as both parties thrive on uptempo guard play but Kepnang is a rare type who excels at running the floor while defending the paint.
